Ashleigh & Chris Kinon | Wachesaw Plantation | Murrells Inlet SC

A Wedding Fit for Royalty

It might have been a rainy day, but the love between Ashleigh and Chris was shining bright!

This sweet couple married at Wachesaw Plantation Club, located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. They exchanged vows overlooking the Waccamaw River. With the soggy weekend weather forecast, EventWorks jumped into action and set up a stunning, fabric draped, tent to keep guests dry during the ceremony. The bride dreamed of an outdoor ceremony under the live oaks and EventWorks made her dream a reality despite the uncooperative weather. Ashleigh wasn’t going to let the rain dampen her mood on such a joyful occasion! This fun-loving bride spontaneously decided to walk down the aisle in rain boots! …And just as Chris and Ashleigh said “I do”, the clouds parted, and a vibrant orange sunset became the backdrop to their outdoor wedding ceremony.

It’s a coincidence that Ashleigh and Chris were married on the same day as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex {formally known as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle}. Their wedding date was planned well in advance of Kensington Palace’s announcement! What isn’t a coincidence are the expertly executed details by Stunning and Brilliant Events.

The tone of this regal affair was set by the custom invitations designed and pressed by Charlotte + Lily. Ashleigh and Chris selected letterpress invitations with pops of gold foil.  The studio created the Kinon family crest that was used not only on the invitation, but also used on details throughout the wedding ceremony and reception. The invitations were pressed on Charlotte + Lily’s antique Heidelberg. Bree Moore Calligraphy addressed each guest envelope. The cherry on top to this stunning invitation suite was the gold wax seal hand stamped by Charlotte + Lily’s production team.  Each piece was lovingly handcrafted with so much care and attention to detail. When the invitations arrived in guest’s mailboxes, they knew this was the wedding of the year!

Little Shop of Flowers created dramatic and textured arrangements by using tonal cream blooms, blush accents and delicate greenery. They were so pretty! The bride’s bouquet was extra special. A photo of her late mother was adorned to her bouquet. It was a beautiful way to pay tribute and to keep Ashleigh’s mom close to her on such a special occasion. The subtle fragrance of the fresh flowers filled the air and added so much beauty!

The bride made her grand entrance in a horse drawn carriage. During the ceremony, guests were serenaded by award winning musical group, Charleston Virtuosi. The Honorable Kaye G. Hearn, a dear friend of the groom’s family, officiated the ceremony.  People laughed and cried…it was such a beautiful experience.

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed signature cocktails selected by Ashleigh and Chris {Lavender in Love and Mint Julep}. A large monogram Kinon crest ice sculpture was prominently displayed with the finest seafood. It was a sight to see!

As the new Mr. and Mrs., the couple’s first dance was to “Still the One” by Shania Twain {so fitting…they have been together for 10 years!}. During the reception, water color artist, Maggie Smith, was commissioned to paint the excitement of the evening. Guests enjoyed shrimp and grits, a southern specialty, along with an assortment of the finest foods and treats. Incredible Edibles designed a 5-tier cake, with fresh flowers cascading down each layer. It was a delicious masterpiece! The entertainment was non-stop throughout the entire night. Guests had fun taking silly snap shots in the photo booth, and had the unique experience of a hand-rolled cigar station. The band, Atown, kept the dance floor packed with their amazing set list. They ended the night with some 90’s hits {Spice Girls and Back Street Boys}…it was pretty sweet! Ashleigh and Chris were sent off with a sparkler exit and drove off in Chris’ decorated “just married” truck. What an unforgettable wedding filled with memories and love that will last a lifetime!

From the Bride about their love story:

It was my first day of high school. I had gone all day and not meant anyone. We had honors geometry together. It was the last class of the day. Our teacher told us to do the problems together with a partner. He comes up to me to ask if we could be partners. I said sure! After that he always wanted to be partners to copy my answers because they were usually right lol. So then spring semester comes around and we have honors physical science together. I said, “Lord please let us not be lab partners because he will make me do all the work again.” Hahah. Our teacher says, “I’m going to assign your lab partner in alphabetical order.” Would you believe there was no one between letters F through K? Sure enough we were lab partners. I looked at him and said, “you’re going to help me this semester.” Haha. We then became best friends and started dating a year later.
