There’s something SOO special about photographing families at Debordieu Colony Beach… tucked between Pawleys Island and Georgetown, it’s one of those quiet, hidden gems along the South Carolina coast. The soft dunes, winding paths, and calm waves make it a dream backdrop for family beach portraits that feel both timeless and relaxed!
This October, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful family of four (plus two adorable dogs!) at sunset. The golden light bounced across the water. The pups were so cute! Moments like this remind me why I love being a Debordieu Colony family photographer. Every session feels personal, peaceful, and full of connection!! And it’s SOOO pretty!
This was my second year photographing this sweet family, and it’s been so fun watching these girls grow and change! They’re full of giggles and personality… and a little mean mugging… but I can’t lie.. I LOVE IT!!! And I just know that next time, the little one won’t be quite so shy!

How to Prepare for Your Debordieu Beach Session
A few simple tips can help make your family session easy and enjoyable!!!
- Choose coordinated, not matching, outfits. Soft neutrals, light blues, and earth tones look beautiful against the sand and water.
- Plan around sunset. The light at Debordieu Beach is absolutely stunning in the evening… golden, soft, and flattering for everyone.
- Bring the essentials. A towel, water, small treats for kids or pets, and maybe even a change of clothes if you plan to get a little wet!
- Relax and have fun. The best photos come when you’re simply being yourselves. Let the kids run, snuggle your spouse, and enjoy your time together.
