Old Hollywood New York meets the South – Derek and Mary shared their vows the evening of Jan 20, 2018. My first wedding of 2018 and it was perfect! The couple was so fun to work with and sharing this special moment with them was timeless. Old Hollywood New York .

The families of each couple were so welcoming and genuine! It was all in all the perfect evening for these two!! There were tears of happiness throughout the whole night!! 21 Main Events did a fabulous job making Mary’s vision come to life! They even shared their first dance to Frank Sinatra!!

Derek and Mary were introduced by Mary’s Grandma in September of 2013 at a restaurant. It was Mary’s Grandparents anniversary and her brother and her took them to dinner to celebrate. She had just graduated that spring from USC and was home working and getting her adult life together. Derek is from the town next to Mary’s. His Father and her Grandfather both farm land next to each other.

It’s a very small world. Of course Mary was embarrassed that her grandma was trying to be her wing man, but she is so glad she spoke up and said “my granddaughter is single, are you?” Then he got her name off of the receipt and messaged her on Facebook, and it wasn’t weird at all the way he did it, Mary says “it was actually cute.”

The couple met for dinner two weeks later and that was it. They took it very slow because both of them had been single for a long time and weren’t quite sure, but it didn’t take long before they realized they wanted the same things, and their character traits complemented each other. Then in April of 2017 they went on vacation to Puerto Morelos, Mexico and there he proposed at Sunset at the end of a long doc over looking the clear blue water.

Their Love Story

The theme of Mary and Derek’s wedding was old Hollywood/New York meets the South! Imagine Jackie O or Audrey Hepburn getting married in South Carolina and you got it!!! Classy yet simple, there was champagne everywhere with Frank Sinatra in the background and every man you see in a full tux. Mary wanted their wedding to have the feel that weddings and parties used to have, where everyone dressed to the nines, dancing, & laughing!! From our ceremony to our reception they wanted the feel of classic and glamorous. From the ceremony with a violinist and cello duet to the seated dinner with Sinatra. The culture has become so relaxed you almost don’t get excited. I know this isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time but it was for us this couple!!!!!!!!

Words from the Bride “We chose 21 Main of course because we fell in love with the food from the restaurant. Once I found out about the ball room and court yard I knew that it was perfect! The New York feel of the restaurant and ball room went with my vision. After our very first meeting with Casey and staff, Derek and my family were in agreeance that it was perfect! 21 Main Events at North Beach from the very beginning understood what I wanted and worked closely with me which was a huge relief when your a stressed bride. Knowing I could call them at any time with question or just to vent made the whole process smooth. The whole process from start to finish is taken care of with them, they have thought of everything.”
